Humongous Fungus

I designed a poster for the Humongous Fungus Festival in Crystal Falls, Michigan, celebrating the 2,500-year-old Armillaria gallica fungus colony that spans 38 acres. The color palette was chosen to feel both retro and natural, while the use of rounded typography mirrored the organic shape of the mushrooms, giving the design an arty, whimsical feel. Hand-drawn illustrations and textures captured the scale and mystery of the fungus. Made in Adobe InDesign, the poster was nominated for the Graphic Student Design Award for its creative blend of illustration, typography, and design.
